What is the difference between a crossbody bag and a sling?
A crossbody is worn with the strap across the chest and the bag at the hip. A sling sits higher and is usually worn across the back, often with quick swivel access. Both keep your hands free.
How do you wear a crossbody bag?
Across the chest with the bag resting at the hip, or over one shoulder. The adjustable strap lets you set the length and swing it to the front for access.
What size crossbody bag do I need?
For phone, keys and cards, around 1 litre is enough, like the Mini Shoulder Bag. For daily essentials or a small tablet, 3.5 to 4 litres, like the Block Bag or the Moonlight Crossbody.
Can a crossbody bag hold a tablet?
The larger styles can. The Mountain Sling Bag (7.5L) has room for a tablet and a layer. The 1 litre styles are built for a phone and small essentials, not a tablet.
Are Topo Designs crossbody bags water resistant?
Yes, water resistant, not fully waterproof. The recycled nylon and finishes shed light rain, and coatings have been PFAS free since 2024. For heavy rain, keep electronics in a pouch.

What are they made of, and will they last?
Recycled nylon, often ripstop, chosen for years of daily use. All bags are covered against defects in materials and workmanship through our MAP Guarantee, with a repairs programme.

Heritage
Founded in 2008 by Jedd Rose and Mark Hansen in Fort Collins, Colorado. Jedd started sewing packs in his basement. Mark sourced materials and built the community. Still designed in Colorado.
