Courtney Marie Andrews x Topo Designs
Phoenix-born, Nashville resident singer-songwriter Courtney Marie Andrews began writing and performing around the age of 15, and she hasn’t stopped since. In her relatively short career, she continues to build promising momentum, sharing musical journeys from the likes of the late great legend John Prine, to current classics (and Topo buddies) such as Nathaniel Rateliff, Brandi Carlile and Tallest Man on Earth.
Courtney was kind enough to curate a who’s who of song masters, old and new that inspire her. Take it down a notch and relax to this eclectic mix full of influences sprawling from Neil Young to Joni Mitchell, Damien Jurado to Jolie Holland and many more.
We caught up with Courtney recently and asked her to weigh in on how not touring has affected her, as well as things she misses about being on the road. Catch her phenomenal new album (released 7/24) "Old Flowers" here. https://cma.lnk.to/OldFlowers
What do you miss most about not being able to tour right now?
I miss connecting with humans in a room! There's nothing quite like sharing music together with a crowd. I also miss playing with my band.
Do you have any new hobbies you've picked up while spending this much time around home?
I've recently picked up painting. It's very therapeutic.
What’s one thing you miss about being home when you’re on tour?
I miss cooking and gardening! Although right now, I'm very much missing life on the road.
Favorite place you’ve traveled?
Portugal is my new favorite! Amazing art, architecture, beaches, and nature. <3
Author/artist/musician that has influenced you the most?
Steinbeck is my favorite author, Mary Oliver is my favorite poet, and Neil Young, Lucinda Williams, Joni Mitchell, and Bob Dylan are some of my favorite songwriters. These are the giants I never stop returning to.
