Staff Picks - Packs for Summer

From product design to customer service and everything in between, Topo Designs has a hard-working group of folks behind the scenes, and we can't help but want to show them off. Meet three team members that help make this a fun and inspiring place to work.

Becky, our in-house Marketing lead is a jack-of-all outdoor trades, from trail running to downhill skiing and just about everything in between. She also wins Mom of the Year for taking her kids to Disney World this year.

What was your dream job when you were a kid?

Growing up I was a bit of a Disney fanatic and was always drawing. So, for the longest time I wanted to be an animator for Disney. As I got older I still loved Disney but got drawn into the world of the outdoors, and the rest is history.

If you had to pick, what's your favorite Topo Designs bag right now?

I've always loved being able to make a bag my own, and so my new favorite carry is our Y-Pack. With its large top pocket and flat front and side panels, it's easy to add patches and fun pins. The bag itself is super lightweight, clean and streamlined and can be folded and slipped into into a larger bag while traveling, allowing for shorter excursions during the trip. And, the best part is if you personalize it, you always know it's your bag.

What's a fun fact about yourself you can share?

Not sure if this counts as a little known fact, but growing up I was Becky 'Knight,' and when I got married I switched over to being Becky 'Day.' People sometimes ask me why I didn't hyphenate my maiden & married names—I answer back "would you?"

Andres - Sales Associate extraordinaire at our Fort Collins shop. You can usually find him near the store in Old Town or enjoying the outdoors in Rotary Park at Horsetooth Reservoir.

What's an inspiring account you follow on Instagram?

The account which stands out to me the most is @joelsartore, his photography doesn't highlight his life, but rather puts a spotlight on endangered species. Joel has photographed more than 6,000 species, studio style, in around 40 different countries, and I've fallen in love with nearly every one of them.

What was your dream job as a kid?

When I was younger, I looked up to people like Steve Irwin and Jeff Corwin. I just really wanted to be those guys because they traveled the world looking for all sorts of animals, while also educating people about what they were and how they fit into the world.

What bag are you carrying these days?

My Klettersack, because it's about the best thing since sliced bread. The two top buckles are sturdy and work great when outfitting the bag with a rolled-up blanket or climbing rope. This thing is bomb proof, it's been everywhere with me and fits everything from my notebooks to my tent. It's also equally suited for a chair in the coffee shop.

Kate - our Human Resources pro who keeps Topo Designs running smoothly during the week. On the weekends after her kids' soccer practice, she likes to hit up wine tastings with her husband and friends.

What are the top 3 places you want to travel?

Croatia, the Butchart Gardens in British Columbia, and skiing Taos, New Mexico!

What's a little-known fact that not everyone knows about you?

I am a triplet. One of three girls!

Dream job as a kid?

I wanted to be an airline stewardess (back when they were called stewardesses, and it was a classy and glamorous job). I have this love for the 50s and 60s and that seemed like the most amazing career for that time period. Also, they had great outfits.

What's your favorite bag right now?

I love my Trip Pack. Some of the other bags can be a bit too much for my every day. This fits my laptop and a notebook in the big compartment, and my mouse, charger and wallet in the smaller pocket. It's slim enough for my back and just perfect!
